My tiny girl is 5!!!

Last weekend we celebrated Maddie's 5th Birthday. I was surprised how hard her turning 5 hit me. I guess 5 is the age of school and everything big girl...the baby years are completely gone!

Maddie wanted a "puppy and kitty" party. It turned out to be a really fun theme! Click on the photo to see the whole album.

With Mads turning 5, I have a new appreciation for this new little girl who will arrive in May. I do love babies and baby girls are too much fun! I have a space in my closet with her little pile of clothes and thinking about many more years of hair bows and dresses is very fun!

New Cupcake Store!!

A cupcake store opened over the long weekend, Cupcasions is at Spall and Springfield. We just had to get in there for a taste test! Go try it out and tell me and the rest of the readers what you think! (being a bit of a "baker" myself, I feel it would be a quite biased review coming from me:)

Not to be outdone by the Banman-Stang family Canada Day cupcakes....The girls made them lovely and did a great job (with a little help and a teensy bit of what I like to call coaching but others might call bossing:)

Yes, look at that Canadian pride!!

Latest Creation

Here's a cake I made over the weekend for a baby shower with the theme "cute as a button" (brown and turquoise). The polka dots are buttons if you look up close.
Please note my lovely new window coverings in the background!!

Also note: my new cake plate on it's maiden voyage!

The Name is Chosen!

So my friend Patricia and I are in the process of starting up a really cool business. (I will share more as it unfolds) For those of you who have been in on the process, we have a name now, registered with the Government!

Cake of the Week

This cake has gotten quite a bit of attention over on facebook so I figure it might be a point of interest here on the blog! Those things on top are strawberries dipped in white chocolate.
I did make this one, unlike all those countdown cakes!!

The Cake Plate

My new cake plate has taken it's place in my collection! I think it looks quite lovely!
(For those of you that keep track, I do have a few other cake plates but they have to be in the clear/white/silver family to make it on display!)

I feel compelled to share that I spent a few minutes tidying up this side of my kitchen before I took this shot...photos can sometimes make things seem a little too perfect and I am here to shoot that right down...the OTHER side of my kitchen, at the moment this photo was taken, was a complete and utter disaster!!

Here is my new apron on it's first try-on. Isn't it cute??

Birthday Bash

Yesterday was a great day. I am speechless, really. Because we marked the big 3-0 in March in California with all my family and 5 best friends, and THEN Mike surprised me with a birthday trip to Vail with two of my best friends earlier this month, I have felt celebrated for a while now. I was looking forward to officially being 30 but I didn't expect the lovely, thoughtful, super creative and tons of fun night that I ended up having last night!
Somehow my camera only has a handfull of photos that do not begin to do the night justice...
opening a gift from my girls...
I also got a great gift from my mom, a fancy stamp with my very own address on it...hopefully many of you will enjoy the workings of this fun gift whenever I send you cards (hmm, I guess that is really only at Christmas these days- perhaps i will be upping the anti in this department now that I have this great stamper!!)

Dinner with friends and sisters at La Cucina on the patio...it was a perfect night for the patio! We closed the place down and had to be asked to politely pay and move along-that's how comfortable we were:)
My sisters (this is Terri and Tammy, Shelley is taking the picture) planned an amazing night complete with a name tag for me, cute favors that they made, a fun creative, thoughtful game, a very unique and super yummy and pretty "cake", a gift I could not have picked out better for myself, and a glorious, wonderful "C" .....

(all of this will make much more sense once I can upload some proper photos:)

I am probably leaving some important details out but the overall sentiment is that I felt so special and I was honored that they went to all the trouble to look after all the little details for my special day. All of my fun friends who came made it such a great mix of awesome people and I felt so loved and encouraged. Thank you all of you!

Another highlight of my night was a surprise phone call from my best friend in the whole world, Gretchen right in the middle of dinner wihich I quite enjoyed because she is the one person that I would have transported there if I had the option!

Thanks for the call Gretch!

My sweet kiddos are anxious to show me a surprise today so it seems the celebration continues!!

Today is my 30th birthday! Feels kinda the same as any other day so far, got up, ate breakfast, doing some laundry...
